BBC presenter salaries and BBC pay grades in general have been heated a topic over the past year, as the extent of the gender pay gap within the BBC was revealed.
The BBC presenter salaries have now been revealed for 2018 and it tells a similiar story. Men now make up the top 12 on the list, compared to last year which was top 7.
Gary Lineker has overtaken Chris Evans as the highest paid BBC presenter. The Match of The Day host earnt betweeen £1,750,000 - £1,759,999 last year. Claudia Winkleman remains the highest earning woman on £370,000 - £379,999. Mary Berry and Emily Maitlis have also now joined the list.
Names from shows such as Strictly Come Dancing have been removed from the list as they are part of BBC Studios, which is now considered a seperate entity to the BBC.
Despite the top 12 BBC presenter salaries all being male, the percentage of men to women earning 150k in the financial year has reduced from 76% to 59%. In October, Lord Hall voiced his opinion on the gender pay gap " Fairness in pay is vital. We have pledged to close the gender pay gap by 2020 and have targets for equality and diversity on our airwaves. We have done a lot already, but we have more to do".
