Top 25 World's Highest Paid Athletes 2018

  • By James McBride

The top earning sports star have just been released, and given the lucrative salaries and boxing pay per view revenues, it is not surprising the figures are high. The 25 top paid athletes combined made around $1.7 Billion over the last 12 months.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather comes out on top for the fourth time in seven years. His fight v Conor McGregor earnt him 4.3 million from the pay per view alone, eventually earning himself money in the region of $275 mil for that one fight.

Interestingly, Mayweather, Ronaldo and Tiger Woods are the only three athletes to top the highest paid list over the last 18 years. Surprisingly, Messi has surpassed Ronaldo's earnings this year, despite losing out in the Ballon D'or to the Portuguese star.

Le Bron has cemented himself as the highest paid Basketballer, although, Steph Curry is close behind.

Lewis Hamilton is the UK's highest paid athlete, and Boxing's poster boy Anthony Joshua just scrapes into the top 25, although, if he carries on the way he is doing, expect to see him near the top this time next year.
